PINGXI LANTERN
FESTIVAL 2026
The Pingxi Lantern Festival is a traditional Taiwanese celebration where people release glowing paper lanterns into the night sky as symbols of hope, luck, and new beginnings. For this project, I wanted to capture the calm, dreamlike feeling of the festival through soft gradients, glowing colors, and layered shapes that reflect the warmth and movement of the lanterns floating together through the sky.
The festival tickets also inspired part of the design direction. I liked the soft colors, simple typography, and vintage paper feel they often have. I wanted the poster to feel a little nostalgic and collectible, like something you’d keep after experiencing the festival.
This project was a fun way for me to experiment with texture, color, and storytelling while creating something that feels calm, warm, and immersive. I wanted the final pieces to capture the feeling of looking up at hundreds of glowing lanterns and being part of something really special.
